On February 26, Markus Ederer, Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation, spoke at the HSE on ‘Russia and the EU: The Present State of Affairs’. The lecture was organized by the HSE International Students' Association together with the EU Delegation to Russia.

HSE has topped the list of universities in the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100 once again, having been ranked in 13 subjects and 3 subject areas in the QS World University Rankings. The university has entered the top 100 in ‘Sociology’ and ‘Political and International Studies’ categories, as well as the top 100 in ‘Social Sciences and Management’. 

Ashish Kumar Singh hails from a place called Raebareli, a city of about 3,000,000 people located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He recently joined the doctoral programme in Political Science at HSE, a decision he says was motivated by discussions he had with a professor from HSE who was visiting the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in New Delhi

HSE has signed an agreement for a double degree programme with the Free University of Berlin in Germany. The agreement encompasses the Master's programme in Comparative Social Research and its German counterpart will be the ‘East European Studies’ programme.

Sergey Kalashnikov researched and taught at HSE’s Institute of Education and in his final year at HSE was responsible for cooperation with secondary schools of the HSE university educational network.

Elena Okorochenko, Managing Director of Asia-Pacific Ratings at S&P Global Ratings, is not only a graduate of HSE’s first class of students; she has also contributed to the formation of the university as a whole. The UBI Awards Ceremony was held on February 22 at the World Incubation Summit at Ryerson University, Toronto. HSE’s Business Incubator has entered the ranking for the second in a row. In 2015, it was ranked 14^th in the category ‘best business incubator managed by a university’ among more than 100.

After receiving her PhD in Psychology from the University of the Basque Country, Beatriz Martín-Luengo arrived in Moscow in 2015 to join the Centre for Cognition & Decision Making at HSE as a Research Fellow. Since then, she has pursued research interests that focus on the ecological study of human memory (i.e., variables that affect our recollection) and metamemory, which is the introspective knowledge of one's own memory capabilities (and strategies that can aid memory) and the processes involved in memory self-monitoring.
