‘It’s Important to Me Not to Rest on My Laurels’

On October 16, 2025, Forbes Education published its list of the top 20 Russian universities with the best employer reputation in 2025. The ranking was based on a survey of leading Russian employers, who named the higher education institutions whose graduates they consider the most well-prepared and are most inclined to hire. HSE University took first place in the ranking.

Million-Rouble Startup: HSE University Students on Their Projects
Anastasia Yanke and Vadim Yelkin, students of the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM), have each received a grant of one million roubles to pursue their entrepreneurial ventures. The Student Startup programme has been implemented for four years by the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation as part of the federal project Technology to support startup projects by students of Russian universities. This season, 43 projects of HSE University students are among the winners.

Works of HSE Art and Design Students Presented at Pingyao International Photography Festival
On September 19, the 25th Pingyao International Photography Festival (PIP) opened in Pingyao, Shanxi Province, China. The exhibition features the works of 16 students of the Faculty of Creative Industries at the HSE Art and Design School, selected following the results of the HSE Creative Open / Photoproject international competition, which received more than 300 entries.

HSE Students Win International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence
In the finals of the olympiad, the Russian team competed with 300 talented schoolchildren from 61 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Hungary, China, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Serbia, Singapore, the USA, Sweden, and Japan. The finals included team and individual rounds. In the team round, the Russian team made it into the top 10, winning a silver medal. In the individual competition, Russian schoolchildren won six gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.

Flying Robot and Medical Equipment: Projects by HSE University Graduates at ‘Moscow 2030’ Forum
At the end of August, 2025, a large-scale forum ‘Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030’ took place at the Museon Art Park, where students from different universities demonstrated their inventions and art installations. Graduates of the 2025 Master’s programme in Product and Industrial Design at HSE Art and Design School presented the first Russian autonomous flying robot, Belka, and medical equipment designed for disinfecting donated blood, Ance. HSE Doctoral Student Awarded for Best PhD Presentation at 58th Societas Linguistica Europaea Conference
From August 26–29, 2025, the largest annual linguistics conference, Societas Linguistica Europaea, took place in Bordeaux, France. Doctoral students and researchers from HSE University took part in the event. The paper ‘Lability Drift in Modern Aramaic languages’ by Elena Shvedova was highly praised by the expert community and took first place among PhD student presentations.
